Stem Mastering

Stem Mastering is an advanced audio mastering process that provides greater control over the sonic shape and balance of a
track. Unlike traditional stereo mastering, which works with a single stereo file, stem mastering uses grouped audio tracks—such as drums, vocals, bass, and instruments allowing the mastering engineer to make more detailed adjustments. This deeper level
of control enables precise shaping of each element, resulting in a more refined, powerful, and balanced final master.

File Format for Stem Mastering Services

  • Grouped stems (e.g., drums, bass, vocals, instruments)
  • WAV/AIFF, 24-bit, no clipping or limiting
  • No master bus processing (unless essential to the sound)
  • Start all stems at the same time (bar 1)
  • 2 sec silence at start & end
  • Clear names (e.g., Drums_Stem.wav, Vocals_Stem.wav)
  • Optional: reference tracks & notes
